Digital Borrowing: E-Books, E-Audio, Magazines & Streaming Video

Download E-Books and E-Audiobooks

The Upper Hudson Library System has a large collection of digital materials to borrow and it’s easy to access them using OverDrive or Libby on your desktop computer or mobile device.

Check out up to 10 items at a time for up to three weeks. If there is no waiting list, you can renew an item once. You may place requests on items and have them automatically checked out to you when they become available. There are no late fees for E-Books and digital audiobooks.

In addition to your library card, you will need a valid email address and the Libby app for mobile devices. If you do not have a mobile device, you can read E-Books in your browser or you can download software to your computer to read ebooks or listen to audiobooks.

Download Magazines

Popular magazines may be accessed on your mobile device or computer using Flipster or Overdrive.

Some magazines are unlimited and can be checked out for as long as you want and will stay on your device. Other digital magazines have a limited borrowing window and require someone else to check it back in before you can borrow it. There are no late fees or expiration dates.

To read digital magazines, you will need a valid library card from any public library in Albany or Rensselaer counties.

For more information about Flipster, see this one-page guide to Flipster digital magazines. You are always welcomed to stop by the reference desk for assistance.

Watch a comedy, learn how to do yoga, or put on something fun for the kids!  Stream easily to your computer or mobile device. You can check out a streaming video for up to seven days, and just like all digital content, there are no late fees. For more information, see this Getting Started guide.

Library eReaders come pre-loaded with best sellers, popular titles, and classics selected by our librarians. The Nook Color eReaders feature Picture Books and Easy Readers for children. Title requests are always welcome. Please contact the library at 518-765-2791 or for information about select titles.
