1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Reading with your child is the single most important activity that you can do to help your child get ready to read, and the Library is here to help!

The Voorheesville Public Library has joined the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten (1KBBK) national initiative. The mission of the 1000 Books Foundation is to promote reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers and to encourage parent and child bonding through reading.

Our Library’s 1KBBK is an ongoing program intended for newborn through pre-Kindergarten children with giveaways, progress incentives, and special events planned now and for years to come!

Speak with a youth services librarian to learn more about the program, sign up, and receive an informational folder. Parents can easily keep track of what their child reads using a paper chart or the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten mobile app.
